God forbids but if there is a house fire then the first and foremost thing is the safety of your family members. To ensure the safety of family member you must install smoke detectors in your house so incase if any fire broke out then family members should be altered about it. Fire safety precaution doesn't stop here. This is just the protection of your family member. Now you have to make some arrangements about the important documents and valuables that might get damaged during fire.

There are documents like contracts, diplomas, insurance policy, medical records, security cards, birth certificated etc. Apart from these formal and emotional documents there are some things that you are sentimentally attached to like old photographs of your family or some things that are gifted to you're by someone close to you. Protecting all these things is also important. A simple way to protect these things from fire as well as from theft is installing a fireproof safe. These safes are particularly made to withstand the fire. Though these safe have a resistance towards fire but this doesn't mean that they are going to protect you belonging forever. There is duration for which they can withstand a particular temperature.

There are specific ratings that tell us about the fireproof safe. Below are the three categories of the safes.
1) UL125: it is the safe that maintain the temperature at or below 125 degree Fahrenheit and the level of humidity is around 80%. These safes are perfect for diskettes. But people rarely use diskettes these days.

2) UL 150: this safes rating perfect for storing back up data like tapes, cartridges, microfilm etc. the design of this safe makes sure that the temperature inside it don't rise above 150 degree and humidity is about or below 85%.

3) UL 350: These safes maintain a temperature of less than 350 degree Fahrenheit. This is a safe where you can store all you documents because this temperature is very less for a paper to start burning or get badly damaged.

While choosing a fireproof safe you need to be sure about the things that you are going to store in them. Once you are sure about the contents then you can opt for the appropriate rating for your safe. Another thing that helps in deciding among of fire-resistant you require from fire depends on the distance of your place from the fire station.
